I haven't been here much. I'm not here that often as it is, but I do like to try and offer something on a Monday (or Tuesday) as my 'Mumday' post. Today is about recognising the many hats you can wear as a woman and mother and paid working mother, while continuously spinning a tremendous amounts of plates.
How do you stop ending up in a heap of muddled head-wear and broken crockery?
Firstly, you down-size. It's not easy to reduce the number of hats you wear: wife, mother, household maintainer, friend, business owner, employee, neighbour... are probably titles not easily got rid of...
But the spinning plates- these you can reduce. How? Say no. This can be difficult at first but once you get the feel of not having quite so much to manage, there'll be no turning back. Realising that the world hasn't imploded from the lack of your cupcakes at the fete, or that your colleagues are capable of organising Friday night drinks can be a freeing revelation. Reducing the spread of your time and energies, means that things which better deserve your presence and input get more of it- like taking some 'me' time and being with those you love.
Secondly, prioritise and relax your standards. Some days the washing just might not get folded because you really needed to finish that work deadline. There are others in the household who are possibly quite capable of doing it themselves- give them the opportunity to shine! (Partners/ husbands... this means you).
Some days it will not be possible to create the evening meal from scratch as you needed to get your haircut. This is ok. That's why healthy ready meals were invented (probably by a busy working mother or her husband who was tired of having to fold washing...).
So why is my family going around in odd socks and eating a supermarket's finest?
Workshops, workshops and workshops.
It started with 'Mums at Work' and the menu has extended to include:
- Finding Clarity
- Changing Direction
- Redefining MumMe
- Work/Life Balance
Details of which will be on the 'Workshops/Courses' page on the website and look for up-coming dates on the 'Events' page.
On-line courses
As the workshops develop, these will become available on the website as on-line e-courses, for you to access at your 'leisure' and in your own time. No need to make appointments or travel to the delicious Retreat (not such a good selling point- it is a fantastic space...), just access, download and away you go.
Just like the real workshops, the opportunity to be supported in a small group environment, by others in the same position, will be provided by an on-line course specific forum.
Coming soon, look out for the new and improved 21 Day Challenge! This on-line package will include: daily emails with affirmations or inspiring quotes; a 7 day planning stage, so you come into the 21 Day Challenge fully prepared and with an action plan; regular follow-up and forum discussions; dedicated times to access to Aspiring Change on the forum for immediate responses to your questions or comments; a completion certificate and so much more!
A New Web page
These on-line courses will be available to view and buy into soon on a wonderful page that is in the process of being developed called 'A Piece of Cake'.
I love being able to continue the theme of 'cake' through this site. After some input on the title and a 'too corny' check with friends on my Facebook page, the new addition to the site is almost ready!
This has also meant a little jiggle to the website, so take a look around at the changes.
Connoisseurs Club
This is the development of the 'Registered Users' part of the website, where you log-in and create a user name and all that kerfuffle and fuss. So what do you get for that extra bit of time taken to create a password?
and I think that is enough for now! Phew!
I will get back to caring more thoroughly for my loved ones, but do keep up to date by signing up to the newsletter- there is more change to come!
