In honour of my wonderful mother visiting me for a month, I had the idea of putting together a blog page titled 'A Mother's Wish' and I would love for you to help me.
I am lucky to have a brilliant relationship with my mother which is close and full of respect and admiration (me for her... I'm sure she just despairs of me!). I know of so many wonderful and varied mother relationships and each have stories surrounding them. Some aren't typical and some are quite sad or negative but I know that behind each story there is a wish waiting to be heard.
Much like how a community patchwork quilt traditionally gets made by each individual woman's unique contribution, I'd like this blog page to be made up of all of your wishes. Whether the wish is as a mum for your children; as a child for your mum; as a mum to be; or as someone who has limited experience of 'motherhood' and you have a wish from that perspective, I'd love to hear it all!
I'm going to gather those wishes and put them all together, here on the blog for all to read and cherish.
Please help by contributing your wish below and passing this on to anyone who might be interested in sharing their wish.
I have many wishes but to get you all started, here is one:
I wish that everyone had a mum like mine: strong, loving and a great cake baker!
Updates: 4th July from the Facebook page
Having spent some more time in conversation with my mum while she visits, this is a wish for her: I wish for her to know just how great a job she has done with her 3 daughters AND that she is reprising her role with great success with her 4 granddaughters! Kirsten
I'm lucky to have a wonderful mum; hope I am one too. BW

... Lovely post and I wish I had a mum like yours too! To focus on my own experiences of being a mother, which has been and continues to be amazing, unlike my experience of being a mother.... I wish that my children grow to be emotional strong and understand the meaning of gratitude, acceptance and love without having to go through all the pain I needed for the gift of understanding (actually the key to the door of life!). xxx |

... What a great idea and what what a lovely mum you have. I wish that my children: Grow up to be healthy happy balanced individuals - mentally, emotionally and physically. The values, beliefs and way in which they were brought up serves as a good grounding for when they are adults And to thank my own mum (who lives in another country) - for an idyllic and wonderful childhood |

... Gorgeous post .. am envious of your relationship with your mum ...physically my mum may help in my life but emotionally she doesnt get it ... For my children I wish them to believe in themselves...to love themselves....to have whatever support system they need and to know that I will always be there for them |

... What a lovely idea :-) For my children I wish peace, happiness and fulfillment. And for my Mum, the strength to continue to look after my Dad, and the strength to ask for help when she needs it and not struggle on until it all gets too much for her. And to know, without having to feel awkward or uncomfortable, how much we all love her. |
