Why mistakes need to be made: Life's Lessons

Confronted by my own recent awareness and learning from a repeated pattern of behaviour, I have been inspired to write a little on the lessons of life. You may not instantly recognise a life lesson when you're in it but you may be familiar with saying this to yourself: "I'm here again? I'm in this situation again? Really?". Rather than getting down about it, consider the fact that you recognise this pattern as the beginning of awareness and therefore the beginning of change.

I have wanted to write about this for many weeks, following a 'Mojo' event at the Cotswold Coaching Retreat, when the learning behind my repeated pattern of behaviour became crystal clear. It was that moment of clarity that made all the anguish of living through repeated lessons the Universe was clearly trying to get me to understand, worth it.

And I see it with the clients I work with. Their frustration at being in THAT situation again and again, seemingly doomed to repeat negative and painful patterns of behaviour into eternity!  What is really happening, when you allow yourself the time and space to explore each of these occurances is that you come a little step closer to understanding and learning what it is you are meant to know.  Each time, you become a little more aware and a little closer to being ready to learn that lesson.

It is my opinion, the Universe only ever sends you what you are capable of dealing with.  So with that understanding, each time a pattern of behaviour is repeated, consider it a step closer to awareness and understanding and that each time you are dealing with something at a level you are ready for. This will not kill you, it will make you stronger and wiser though. Are you ready for that?

Rather than reading more of my thoughts on this, my close friend and lovely colleague, Lisa Cherry, vlogged about this same thing recently.   I wish I could take the credit for this droplet of wisdom but she expresses this concept very concisely in her vlog. Please take a look at Life's Lessons .
