There is a clear link between stress and food. And stress and exercise. And stress and positive thought. And stress and sleep. And stress and sense of community. And stress and purpose in life...
So. With all that to contend with in your stressed state, don't you feel a little stressed? Where to start?!
Other than coming on a retreat for a total health and well-being experience, the next best thing is an insight into the philosophy of the Retreat. Here at the Retreat we are big believers in preventative healthcare- so starting with what we eat seems as good a place to start this as any. What we eat is what we are: healthy and nutritious food in, healthy and nourished we shall be.
And part of looking at what we eat as a way to reduce stress in our lives, is looking at how we think about food. This is incredibly important for the success of creating a healthy and balanced eating way of living.
Rather than getting onto a negative diet-guilt cycle why don't we look at 'gaining health' rather than 'losing weight'. Already we have turned our thinking around to a more positive perspective and doesn't that feel better than looking at food from a perspective of denial, starvation and restriction?
The other part to a successful change in thinking and doing, is understanding your commitment to change. If you don't change the way you are eating now, what will happen? How will you be in 6 months time? What will your life be like in 12 months? 3 years? How important then is it for you to start doing and thinking something different?
When it comes to your health, the long-term consequences of poor health can be catastrophic, traumatic and often terminal. Without your health, you really have very little.
So with all this in mind, I am starting a blog series on Stress-busting Superfoods, targeting specific stress symptoms and the foods that will help you to regain balance and reduce stress. Alongside this, I will provide you with some ways in which you can adjust your lifestyle and thinking to further reduce or eliminate these symptoms.
AND, there's more- if all this is sounding like something you need to seriously start doing something about, then take a look at this workshop retreat series that may just be the thing to get you going on the right track. Early bird places are being sold now...
